TaylorMade R9 TP Driver

TaylorMade R9 TP Driver
Personally, I don’t care too much about the R7 head in any of the 5 golf drivers in its line up. That’s why when the release of TaylorMade R9 TP driver was announced, I was excited to find out what changes came with the R9 driver and to see if it’s a driver that’s worth keeping in my golf gear bag.

When the box of the TaylorMade R9 TP driver arrived, I can’t help but smile…my lips reaching from one ear to another. Just in case you don’t know, TP stands for Tournament Performance…it’s not just any standard driver from TaylorMade.

There are some notable changes on the R9 TP driver’s appearance compared to the R7 golf driver line up…and I really loved it. It comes with a triangle shaped head, which means greater MOI or Moment of Inertia. Even if you’re someone who prefers a traditional head shape, the appearance of the R9 TP driver won’t bother you at all.

Aside from the club head’s shape, you’ll surely find the “Movable Weight Technology” or MWT magnetic! Just in case you don’t know, the MWT gives you the power to change the club head’s CG or Center of Gravity…which promotes different trajectories. MWT is not new. There are a couple of clubs out there that uses this technology. However, I’m still glad that the R9 TP driver came with it…the rest of the customization that can be done will allow you to tweak the driver to your liking making it work for you.

Along with that, TaylorMade added the FCT or Flight Control Technology to many of its golf clubs…including the TaylorMade R9 TP golf driver. FCT, by the way, gives you the ability to tweak the face angle, loft, as well as the lie angle of your club. In simpler terms, FCT will allow you to change the driver’s characteristics making it look better and perform better to suit your needs as a golfer – especially your swing.

Overall, I would say that the R9 TP driver from TaylorMade lived up to the hype. I think that the engineers behind TaylorMade hit the nail’s head hard with this golf driver!
